Here's a closeup of the power train of the shay pictured earlier. Note the itsy-bitsy steamcocks on the cylinders. I also couldn't believe the beautiful detail of the 4-6-4 also in the maintenance/service yard.
On this visit I was surprised at how many of the steamers were actually coal fired and a couple of oil fired engines as well. It was pretty cool to see a steamer run up onto the maintenance rack and the engineer dump the fire out the bottom onto the ground. Sure looked prototypical to me!
