Hobby Shop News

Reese asked me about the Johnson City (aka J.C.) hobby store. He had heard it was closed. So I checked on it Tuesday.

The store has been sold but now is open under a different owner.
I didn't ask if he would honor our club discount.

Reese also said earlier that the Morristown hobby shop had closed.

Knoxville Hobbyland...
The new J.C. owner said that the original owner near Best Buy in Knoxville was having a hard time trying to inventory and manage three stores. According to the J.C. owner, the original owner is also going to close the Best Buy location and will (or already has) opened one in the Turkey Creek area. The good thing is that it is across the street from the Turkey Creek congested area so there is more parking. The new store is close to the new Gregg store (forgotten the exact name)...it is heavy on appliances.

Re: Hobby Shop News

Thanks for posting this info here!

Phil Brooks ventures up I-81 routinely and I'm sure he will check the place out for us - isn't that right Phil! The Turkey Creek location is closer to me but I'm a bit gun shy about traffic during the xmas season. We'll soon find out wnt we.

Re: Hobby Shop News

I received an update from Gary Cameron on the Johnson City Hobby Town. Per his discussion with the new owner while recently visiting the shop the new owner stated that he would continue honoring the KAMR member 10% discount and would also honor the Hobby Town discount card (also 10%) but you will need to registar your existing card with that shop.

Re: Hobby Shop News

Many of you received the e-mail from Cliff on the last open day at the Best Buy Hobby Town location. I hope some of you took advantage of the 20% off premove sale! Now we will have to be patient and wait a whole week before the new store location opens. Maybe he'll have a new store 'grand opening' sale of say 50%.

Re: Hobby Shop News

HobbyTown closed tonight at 8 pm (Friday Oct 20).

They hope to open next Friday. They were busy packing today but had not packed their train stuff...so I bought more stuff.
